Wolves and Wolfgals claim BDC conference championships
With the school year quickly approaching the end, it also means the end of spring sports. The Flora High School baseball and softball teams have both earned respect throughout the Black Diamond Conference with both teams placing first in the conference.
The Flora Wolves Baseball team won the Black Diamond conference, boasting a 9-1 record with their only loss being to the Edwards County Lions. The boys won every other game, completing the first 1st place finish in the BDC since joining in the 2021-22 season. They played the Hamilton County Foxes in their final conference game of the season to clinch the first place spot. Flora won the game with dominance winning 13-2 at home along with a no-hitter from Rayce Giddens, ending the game in 5 innings. They look to continue to keep this run into regionals coming up.
Along with the success of the baseball team the Flora Wolfgals tied for a first place finish in the BDC with an 8-2 record with losses to Hamilton County and Carmi. After finishing with a 4-5 record last year they really picked things up and dominating in the second year of being in the BDC. Leading the conference in batting average and fielding, the Wolfgals are keeping their season alive and are playing Robinson in the first round of regionals.
