Art lll and lV students traveled to the Cedarhurst Art Center on February 12 to tour the college and view some artwork. Mrs. Sloan first took her students to Rend Lake College, then headed to the Cedarhurst Arts Center to view one of their classmates’ artworks.
Mrs. Sloan stated, “I wanted my students to visit the college to see what it offers. I also wanted them to view the art galleries at Cedarhurst and see one of their classmates’ artwork in the Cedarhurst High School Art Competition.
Makenna Hackney, a junior, described the trip as a great way to see the college and its art program. Along with the art program, Rend Lake College also had many different programs to choose from.
Hackey stated, “I enjoyed seeing all of the different types of artwork they had to offer, and I also enjoyed eating at Joe’s Pizza.”
Riley Ross, a senior, had the opportunity to have her art presented at the Cedarhurst Art Exhibit. A portion of the field trip was dedicated to the students viewing Riley’s artwork and taking a tour of the Art Center. She competed in the art competition hosted at the Art Exhibit in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.
This entire trip allowed the students to learn more about the campus and to view local artists’ creations, including Riley Ross’s art pieces. The students agreed it was a nice college with open opportunities for everyone to enjoy.
