Six Flora High School students had an incredible performance at the 2025 Annual Lakeland Computer and Business competition.
The Lake Land College Business & Technology Division recently hosted 15 local high schools for the annual Business and Computer Contest. During this event, students competed in a series of contests covering Accounting, Computer Concepts, General Business and Current Events, MOS Excel, MOS PowerPoint and MOS Word. Each high school also competed in a team event scavenger hunt.
The six students that competed for Flora High School were Adam Pietz, Payton Scroggins, Quentin Black, Elena Warren, Kristen Pipher, and Ella Cammon. Pietz placed 3rd in Word; Scroggins scored 3rd in General Business; Black earned 1st in Excel; Warren placed 2nd in Accounting; Pipher won 1st in Word, and Cammon took 1st in PowerPoint. The students also placed 2nd in the team scavenger hunt.
Kristen explained that for her test “I went to the computer lab and took a test on Microsoft Word which took me 12 minutes to do.”
Elena also said that “I took a test on Accounting which took me 40 minutes and went around taking pictures of different rooms for the scavenger hunt.”
First place winners of each contest received a 3-credit-hour tuition waiver from Lake Land College. Competitors could also qualify to attend the Microsoft National Competition in Dallas, TX this summer.
