This year’s school musical was Clue, based on the murder mystery board game. The Drama Club decided to have audience interaction, so the suspect, room, and weapon would differ in each play as if they were playing the actual board game.
Mrs. Hudson, the director of the Drama Club, describes this year’s musical as the “classic board game put on stage.” The main character, Mr. Boddy, is murdered in the show, and then six suspects- Mrs. Peacock, Professor Plum, Miss Scarlet, Colonel Mustard, Mrs. White, Mr. Green, and two detectives.
The musical took place Friday and Saturday nights, March 21-22, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, March 23, at 2 p.m. Tickets were $10 for adults and $5 for students, but audience members could also buy a “Weekend Combo Package,” which allowed you to view all three shows for $25.
In choosing this musical, each student was able to give input and cast a vote. Since they had a smaller crew, they had to find a musical that didn’t require too many people to be part of it. Then, the audition process was set up, where students had to read a script and sing part of a song of their choosing. Throughout the months, the Drama Club worked on the entire musical. All of the students worked 3-4 days a week, putting in a lot of work.
Mrs. Hudson stated, “I am in charge of the entire production. I pull in some help along the way from parents, volunteers, etc., but the set design, choreography, and staging are all directed by me.”
After all the hard work was done, this musical created a fun, engaging experience for the students in the play and the audience watching the musical.
