You’re standing on a field in the early in the morning and dew is still on the blades of grass beneath your feet. Deeply, you breathe in the crisp morning air and bask in the reflective aura of the early morning sun. With the heavy metallic club grasped in your hand, you’re ready for a game of golf.
One of the sports played at Flora High School flies under the radar of most, but is an incredibly active sport; this sport, which requires a lot of concentration and discipline, is golf. Participating in many games is no easy task for a regular student. Luckily, our golf team rose to the challenge and won three matches which is incredibly difficult without any seniors on the team. Carter Collins, speaking about the impressive season, said, “It was pretty good.”
Recently, Collins scored an 89 at regionals on Tuesday, October 2 at Quail Creek in Robinson, IL. He then traveled to sectionals, scoring a 90 on Friday the 5th of October at Effingham Country Club in Effingham, IL.
