Flora FFA along with eleven other schools from our area competed in the first level public speaking competitions on Jan 15. The competition was held at the high school. First and second place winners will advance to second level in March.
Samantha Briscoe placed 2nd in the varsity extemporaneous speaking. For junior varsity, Brittany McKnelly placed 2nd and Brittany Collier placed 6th. Extemporaneous Public Speaking means students draw their topic 25 minutes prior to speaking and must use this time to prepare their speech.
The Creed Speaking contest is for freshman. Sabryna Williams and Damian Clark tied for 6th place.
Varsity Prepared allows the speaker to write their speech beforehand. Garrett Williams placed 5th in this competition.
Quiz bowl is similar to scholar bowl but specifically dealing with FFA history and facts. In this competition, Flora placed third out of 12 schools. The team includes Samantha Briscoe, Brittany McKnelly, Brittany Collier, Garrett Williams, Kenna Williams, Eddie VanHoose, and Zach Allison.
