Mrs. Borah’s journey in the field of education has been marked by both excitement and challenges, especially as she navigates through her first years of teaching at Flora High School.
As a history teacher, she embraces every opportunity she gets to make an impact on her students academic journeys. She has brought a strong passion for history, a love for teaching, and a powerful connection to her students.
Her mother played a massive role in her decision to pursue this career. Being her prime inspiration, Borah’s mother taught fourth grade at Wayne City. She was not only motivated by her mother, but also by her high school history teacher. It was through these two astounding influences that Borah was set on her pathway into the teaching profession.
She earned her degree at Southern Illinois University of Carbondale. Before she joined FHS, Borah served as a substitute teacher and began her full-time teaching career in Olney during 2022.
As she begins to settle into her place at FHS, Borah reflects on her favorite aspects of teaching. United States History has remained one of her favorite lessons to teach, but what she truly values about FHS is the strong sense of community. She feels welcomed by both the staff and students, making her experiences all the more fulfilling. Even if there may be some challenges, she always finds a way to overcome them.
“The students and staff have been so welcoming,” she mentions.
Preparing for her maternity leave has been a new obstacle Borah must face. Even if she’s excited about the upcoming change, she also knows it’s important to ensure her students are left in good hands. “Yes,” she says, expressing her excitement about becoming a new mother.
Her educational background and teaching experiences have helped to lay the foundation necessary to both grow as an educator and as a learner. Everyday, Borah continues to set an astonishing precedent that showcases her courage and determination. All of the students at FHS are wishing for a safe delivery, and hope to see her again soon.
