Former student of Flora High School, Reagan Hale, returns three years post-graduation to pursue her teaching career.
Even though Hale is no longer a student, it may be beneficial for students to learn more about her time during her academic career. She was an incredibly skilled academic student in the subject of literacy.
During her time at FHS, Hale participated in various clubs, which included Drama Club, Book Club, Spanish Club, Science Club, Pep Club, and FCCLA. In addition to her extracurriculars, she served as class president on the student council all four years.
Returning to Flora was always a top priority on her bucket list. Hale’s grandmother worked as a secretary at the school for many years as she grew up. She sometimes felt as if only Flora was her only true home. Even after leaving for EIU, Hale was determined to study hard and achieve her goals of returning back to Flora.
Becoming a teacher was not always Hales’ interest, mentioning she had originally intended to work as a lawyer.
”Ms. Todd’s English IV class changed my mind,” Hale stated.
One of her biggest inspirations to become an educator was Ms. Todd. Claiming she had influenced a vast majority of her teaching styles.
Although Hale’s classroom may be a lush, pink wonderland, many students would be shocked to learn she is marrying into a farm family.
“I’ll be operating tractors with no idea what I’m doing,” she mentions.
Her English teacher’s grammar haunts her even in her home life.
“People around me will catch themselves making a mistake and correct it,” she joked.
Hale’s return to Flora High School fulfills her long-held dream of making a difference in the world. By educating her students, she is able to make a small, but powerful impact on the community that is sure to inspire people for many years to come.
