When SADD first began over 30 years ago it stood for Students Against Drunk Driving; today, it has expanded to stand for Students Against Destructive Decisions. The mission of this program is to “provide students with the best prevention tools possible to deal with the issues of underage drinking, other drug use, risky and impaired driving, and other destructive decisions.”
The FHS chapter of this organization has been reintroduced this year with Prevention Specialist Louie Lusk leading the group. Coach Leib has taken the role of liaison between Lusk and the school. It is going to be an effort backed by FHS, Clay County Health Department, and the Coalition Against Drug Abuse of Clay County.
A total of 40 students have joined the fight against destructive decision making. This year they would like to help implement a Communications Campaign in the schools to change perceptions about underage drinking.
