Winning by a 30-point margin, the Flora Wolves advanced to the next level of Regional play last night, defeating the Newton Eagles at the Lawrenceville Regional with a final score of 70-40.
The Wolves dominated throughout the game, ending the first half in the lead 54-29. Top scorers were seniors Logan Smith and Bryce Pearce and junior Ian Leib.
Senior Bryce Pearce hit five 3-point shots, bringing his career total to 346, a new school record. Pearce scored a total of 21 points at last night’s game.
When asked about the points he made,”Nobody cares who scores, its all about teamwork, “ Pearce said “Some of the guys stepped up last night and contributed to the win with the loss of Jeffrey Gocey.”
The Wolves will play game 2 against Lawrenceville Thursday night, Feb. 26 at 6:00 p.m. The winner of that game will advance to the championship round on Friday.
The team feels that they will be able to win this game as long as they can handle the pressure from the other team.
