The Flora High School FFA entered the first forestry competition of the year on Monday, Sept. 10, 2018.
At the beginning of the competition, students were paired into numeral-based groups where the 1’s were with 1’s and the 2’s were with 2’s, etc.
The groups were then given various tests and competitions: identification of trees and leaves, map tests, compass tests, diameter/measurements for the trees, etc.
Contestant Mackenzie Harmon, competing against 54 other competitors, earned the highest score for Flora at 27th place. Following right behind her, Clay Warren came in 28th, and Bristol McAllister finished in 41st place. The rest of the Flora group, Coy Garrett and Daniel Britton, placed 48th and 51st.
Overall, the Flora FFA came in 9th place.
