Flora High School may be a small school, but many of the students go on to achieve great things. Alicia Franciskovich graduated from Flora High School in 2017. After graduation, Franciskovich headed to Lincoln Christian University.
Franciskovich had trouble deciding if she wanted to go to Greenville University or Lincoln Christian University. She chose to attend Lincoln Christian University because it has a good Christian community. Lincoln is also cheaper, in a small town, a smaller school, a community close to home, and they offered her major. Franciskovich is majoring in elementary education but plans to get her Master’s in special education. The ages she wants to work with range from pre-k to 21. She chose to go into elementary education after working with special needs children in childcare. Franciskovich explained, “Working with kids with special needs, I saw problems with how society views people and children with special needs.” With her major, Franciskovich can work as an elementary teacher grades k-6, special education pre-k to age 21, as a director of a special education program, as a daycare worker, a tutor, as a children’s minister, or as a babysitter.
After graduating from high school, Franciskovich misses seeing her friends, teachers, and watching sporting events. In high school, she thought she wanted to be a children’s minister, but knew for sure that she wanted to go to Lincoln by the end of senior year. Franciskovich explains that college life can be very stressful because you have more homework, tests, studying, and emotional stress. High school is different because you don’t have to be as responsible or as self-dependent. Life is different at Lincoln because Flora is a bigger population where she is now and more criminal activity is seen in public.
