‘Tis the season to get crafty. With their paintbrushes in hand, the Flora High School Art Club is constructing Christmas displays for Charley Brown Park.
A few years ago Mrs. Jacquie Sloan was approached by the Flora Chamber of Commerce about producing these displays. Annually the Chamber of Commerce supplies the Art club with patterns and themes to select from.
Step one of the process is the Woodshop class cuts out the designs chosen and once sawed it’s sent back to the Art Club. Next Art club paints the cut-outs and arranges the displays at
Charley Brown Park which takes 5-6 Art club meetings to complete.”The biggest challenge is mixing the right paint colors,” said Mrs. Sloan.
Mrs. Sloan said “Not only is the community witnessing the talent of our young people, but I feel that our displays offer both young and old a sense of joy and holiday cheer. It’s hard not to smile when you drive through Charley Brown Park during the Christmas Season.”
