In order to get credit for their hard work, seniors must turn in summer community service hours by Monday, September 15. New forms can be obtained in the Guidance Office.
For any seniors still looking for community service, several events are upcoming:
Rick Gibbs, Lisa Haycock, and Nancy Miller are sponsoring a Color Run on Sept. 6 at Charley Brown Park. Volunteers are needed to help fill up the squirt guns and help organize where the volunteers are going; the run starts at 8, registration is from 9-10, and the race will start at 10.
Students can contact Linda Hutcheson by the band room if interested in helping with Angel Cove, an outreach for young parents in Mt. Vernon, on Tuesday evenings.
If interested in helping with the Food Pantry, contact Esther Walker at 662-5661 or Phil Wiley at 843-9459 to work Thursday mornings 6-8 to help unload the truck and stock the shelves.
Students may also volunteer for the Golden Circle Nutrition Program by contacting Nancy Dehart at 662-6741.
The City of Flora needs help painting and sanding benches; students may contact Jerry Stringer anytime to volunteer for this service.
In December, Salvation Army will be ringing bells at Walmart. Eighty-five percent of the money stays local to help out families in need. Check the Salvation Army website for details.
