All you volleyball and basketball fans out there may notice a big change this year when you look up to the ceiling. You might notice the new motorized flag that was recently hung in Conley Gymnasium by Bobby Johnson and his crew.
This flag was donated to Flora High School by “Friends of Conley Gymnasium.” This group was spearheaded by Lee Melton, Rick Slaughter, Linda Spicer, and Larry McGrew. As well as gathering donations from the community for our new flag, this group also purchased new wireless controls for the scoreboard in the gymnasium. In addition, they collected enough money to buy a motorized flag for Floyd Henson Jr. High School. There were a total of 52 different unnamed entities that generously donated to this cause.
This flag will be dedicated at our annual “Veterans Night” game on December 14, the first home boys’ basketball game in Conley Gymnasium against Mt. Carmel. All the veterans in attendance will be asked to come down onto the court prior to the varsity contest. On the night of the dedication, no veteran will pay admission when entering.
