Flora PD rolls out crimestoppers program

By: Autumn Buffington

Officer Borders encourages FHS to join Clay County Crimestoppers to help fight crime in the Flora area.

In late January, students reported suspicious activity taking place at FHS, prompting an assembly about reporting crime. Officer Borders filled in for Chief Nicholson on February 7 during the presentation in front of the whole school.

He explained that if FHS students or staff see any suspicious activity, or have information on a current investigation, they can text XCRIME to tip411. They can send texts, videos, and/or pictures. The information is sent to the Flora Police Department and the sender is kept anonymous. Officer Borders explained that Crimestoppers will pay a $100 to $1000 reward for any tip that leads to an arrest. Officer Borders says, “Anything that allows the students to take ownership in their safety is a good thing and this does just that.”
