As a part of their community service, Drama Club collected 1,324 pounds canned food for the local food pantry on October 31 between 6 and 8.
As hundreds of children under 12 years of age hit the street looking for candy, Flora High School’s Drama Department set out to collect non-perishable foods for the local food pantry. Instead of filling their bags with candy, the students gathered cans. For the two hours of trick or treat night, groups of two to four went door to door in various sections of town.
At eight o’clock, Mrs. Hudson and Ms. Igert began stacking the loot to take a picture. The goal set by Mrs. Hudson was to break four digits. When the food was all stacked up, the Drama Club felt they had accomplished their goals.
Saturday morning a few students returned to the auditorium. They loaded up all the food and took it to the hospital to weigh it. From there they took the food to the local food pantry and helped put them on the shelves.
