Performing in multiple musicals, Kim Heine has joined FHS along with fellow foreign exchange student Helen Leutritz. Both Kim and the Hip Hop/Ballroom dancing Helen are from Germany. Although they are both from Germany, they lead different lives.
Heine lives in North Bremen with her two younger twin brothers. She does kickboxing and judo in Germany contrasting with the tennis and softball she plays here. She thinks that Americans eat lots of junk food when compared to the foods eaten in Germany.
Heine says that if Americans were to visit Germany they should visit Hamberg to see one of the multitude of musicals shown there. She also recommends visiting Neuschwanstein castle, the castle that disney based their iconic logo on.
Leutritz is from east Germany, in Dresden. She says that her family here is much bigger than her family at home; she has 12 nieces here compared to none at home. In Germany, she is a hip hop and ballroom dancer. Here in Flora she plays volleyball.
Leutritz recommends visiting Dresden to see the Church of All Lady. As described by Leutritz, it’s an all gold church that was rebuilt after it was destroyed in the 2nd World War. Some of the old bricks were used in the reconstruction of the church.
They say they wanted to be foreign exchange students because a new culture and language was intriguing. In order to become a foreign exchange student, both had to pass an English test and complete a 24-page application, along with an interview. Leutritz also had to make a video for her host family.
