Bright and early, the newly introduced FHS Bass Fishing Team traveled to a tournament at Kinmundy Lake on July 16. They were accompanied by their coach, Nathan Jones and their boat captains.
There are 17 members on the team. The top 6 are Mekenzie Wheeler, Jordan Winka, John Williams, Connor Hower, Grant Behnke and Andrew Pearce. They compete against themselves to earn one of the top six positions. Only the top 6 anglers will travel to Forbes to compete against other schools for regionals.
They hold monthly meetings at Charley Brown Park, and they’re hosting a gun raffle as a fundraiser. The boat captains provide the boats while the competitors provide their own necessities such as lures and poles. They will continue having monthly meetings at Charley Brown Park and hope to compete against others next season.
