Enjoying helping people, Levi Williams sponsored a Red Cross blood drive on June 6 from 8-5 at the Methodist Church of Flora. Student Council sponsor Karla Slover asked Williams to participate in this program.
He was the first in several years to actually reach the goal of 25 productive units of blood, which he passed by just one, collecting 26 pints. Thirty people presented to donate.
He says he would do another one because he enjoyed helping all the people that showed up.
While sponsoring the Blood Drive, Williams says he learned a lot about leadership and received community service hours along with being eligible for a $500 scholarship.
This is the third year for the summer drive. Caitlyn Hall was the first FHS student to act as sponsor in 2014 and 2015,and Levi was the second person to sponsor a Blood Drive through the program.
