As the year comes to an end, many senior athletes signed to colleges around the state for numerous sports and received scholarships. These sports include softball, baseball and football.
Senior Kelsey Krutsinger signed with Rend Lake College of Ina, Illinois to play softball. Krutsinger is excited about meeting new people and being on her own. She is also excited about furthering her education. All of Krutsinger’s college is paid for except for housing. Krutsinger chose Rend Lake after meeting her coach and touring the college. Krutsinger says, “I really liked the coach, and the school is really nice. I wanted to start off at a Junior College.” She plans on majoring in Early Childhood Education.
Senior Trevor Nicholson also signed with Rend Lake College of Ina, Illinois to play baseball. Nicholson says, “ I am looking forward to new experience and to play baseball, the game I love.” Nicholson received a full ride scholarship to Rend Lake and plans on majoring in Criminal Justice. He chose Rend Lake because it is the number one college in the nation academically for Junior Colleges and the coaches work very hard to get you to the next level. “I chose this college because it’s comfortable and not too far from home, I plan to transfer to a university after my two years there but my ultimate goal is to make it into the league,” Nicholson states.
Senior Christopher Scott signed with Knox College of Galesburg, Illinois to play football. Scott said he is looking forward to “playing collegiate football and getting a tremendous experience through my major.” After meeting the coaches and team, he chose this college not only for feeling financially sustainable but also the community involvement that it delivers. Scott received a $20,000 academic scholarship and plans on majoring in Computer Sciences.
