Utilizing four lesser known grants, library director Mrs. Donna Krutsinger recently purchased more new books for the FHS library. She has already bought over 80 books with the money supplied. The books are either part of the reward program she started, or student requests.
The Dollar General Youth Literacy Grant is a grant provided by Dollar General to supplement libraries and reading programs for kids. Unlike most grants however, money is requested from this fund, they evaluate your needs, and send approximately the requested amount. Krutsinger received a total of $1,350 from this Dollar General program.
Two other grants were provided by the Illinois Reading Council for the amounts of $1000 and $800. The Illinois State Library Media Association supplied the fourth and final grant. The ISLMA donated 20 books to our library instead of liquid funds. The books received from them are valued at around $350.
The FHS library gets more expansive and accommodating day by day with the work of Mrs. Krutsinger and the numerous student helpers who donate their free time to improving all of our reading opportunities.
