In 1980, Shari Hamilton graduated from Flora High School. Hamilton was the cheerleading captain during senior year, but now she is the FCCLA and Student Council co-sponsor. She also teaches a variety of FACS classes.

Cheerleading all four years, FCCLA, Pep Band, Student Council, Harstan Staff, FBLA, and Letterwomen’s Club are some activities Hamilton participated in during school. Also, she kept the stats for the boy’s track team.

Over time the classes have changed a lot; for example, they didn’t have the use of technology, no phones at all, and couldn’t have any drinks or snacks during class. Other than that, the high school now isn’t so different.

A blazing fire burned a part of the original B building down Hamilton’s junior year. The students still attended classes during the cleanup and certain areas of the school were taped off. Overall the high school is still the same with changes to rules in the classroom and security of the school.  

Hamilton loves teaching at Flora High School and feels like she is always learning new things. She loves being around all the students.

Hamilton decided to major in Family and Consumer Science because she thought it would help her be a great wife and mother. There are many different areas of FACS to work in, and since she majored in education it did not limit her to anything specific.

Before teaching at the high school level she taught Head Start. The decision to leave little kids to work with kids in high school level was hard, but she is glad she made this decision.
