Flora’s Shooting Stars Drill team twirled their way to Cincinnati, Ohio to National American Legion rifle competition nationals on August 26, 2016. They had to go through hard work to get to where they are at. They worked on arm strengthening, timing, and movements for 6 years. This was the first year going to nationals, and the first time they triumphed over the 8 teams that competed. They were the only youth group at the competition against many grown men and women.
They won first place in inspection for which they received a score of 99.9 for their uniforms.For performance, they received a score of 89.3, and they are now the national champions for color guards and rifles. These ladies were sponsored by four veteran women.
The Shooting Stars Drill team consists of Flora High School freshman Tiara Prater, and FHJHS students Ariel Hamilton, Aly Hildebrand, Abigail Freeman, Mackenzie Lindhion, Stacey Welty, Beth Welty, Shayley Ashley, Mikayla Stone.
