WYSE Testing

By Allison Costello
The Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering, or WYSE, Academic Challenge took place on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018. The Academic Challenge is comprised of a series of tests ranging from 30-100 questions. It covers a variety of subjects, including biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering graphics, English, mathematics, and physics. Schools have the chance to place as a group, as well as individuals. Students have the chance to practice for the test by taking tests from previous years in each of the divisions.
Flora High School’s Senior Devan Warren placed first in Computer Science and Junior Vivian Duquaine place third in English. When asked about her experience, Junior Vivian Duquaine stated “The WYSE competition reinforced the idea of how hard college is going to be, so I had better start stressing now. Also, the food was amazing.”
