Many students are signing with colleges this time of year, but this FHS student signed for something you don’t hear about everyday. Earlier this year FHS Senior Brendan Landreth signed with Southeastern College for trap shooting.
Brendan had an interesting path into the trap shooting world as he started shooting in “6th grade” for the “Blaze Orange shooting team in Noble” because “[his] mom cut hair for the coach’s sister.”
Brendan has achieved many goals like “ 1st place ATA Grand National Squad” and “Double SIYSSA Champion” while wanting to achieve more in college like “Building [his] average, [being] more consistent with shooting” and “win more.”
“Winning the Doubles Champion” was one of Brendan’s favorite memories from shooting so far.
Brendan shoots because he’s “always hunted” and it “opened college opportunities” like SIC.
SIC was Brendan’s school of choice because he was “interested in the course” and the “scholarship” opportunity.
Signing with a college for Trap Shooting isn’t something you hear everyday but Brendan has made it a reality. Maybe this signing has opened eyes to trap shooting and presented a possibility of getting a team at FHS which Brendan would like to see. As Brendan moves on to college there is no doubt he will achieve his goals and go far.
