Among the graduating class of 2025, two students at Flora High School have set their sights on a path of making culinary creations in the local community. Both of these students, Katelynn Allen and Wyatt Pride, have expressed that their profound inspiration for pursuing this passion was encouraged and motivated by their mothers and the food classes available to them at the high school.
In addition, these students have cultivated their culinary skills by seeking other ways outside of school practices to expand their abilities. Katelynn, one of the two graduating seniors, points out that she has decorated wedding cakes, baby-shower cakes, birthday cakes, and many other bakery projects throughout the past years. Wyatt, another student planning to pursue a career in culinary arts, mentions that working at the local Julians has helped him develop a love for cooking and bringing his creations to life.
Additionally, Katelynn plans to open a bakery located in the downtown area of Flora among the other local businesses after attending Kaskaskia College. She recommends that anyone interested in pursuing a career in this field spend time practicing by cooking or baking for your family.
Furthermore, Wyatt aims to open up a barbecue-joint after graduating from Vincennes University in Indiana.
