As the 2025-2026 school year is coming to a close, a collaboration between Mr. Pearce, Mrs. Blanchard, and Mr. Steber has revealed that Mr. Steber will be teaching Media Production and Music Business and Technology next year. He chose to teach these classes because he wants to expand some of the offerings for FHS students and give them opportunities that they may not otherwise have growing up in our small town.
Media Production dives deeper into the technological aspects of creating stories and graphics. One specific activity that students will utilize almost daily is working with media technology in some way. This class will provide a broad range of opportunities for students to experience many areas of media technology.
The main topics Media Production will explore are running the video board for all of the volleyball and basketball games,as well as creating content for the school’s sport games. They will also explore podcasting, and potentially even some video recording techniques as well. One specific activity that we will utilize almost daily is working with media technology in some way. For careers, his class could give students experience in the world of behind-the-scenes media production, digital media, broadcasting, graphic design, and media technologies.
Music Business and Technology will include learning live sound setup, such as running mixers and setting up gear as well as making music digitally using various forms of technology. It will also include a few business concepts talking about how gigging and touring musicians make money doing what they do.
Steber wants students to know it’s going to be a really fun class with a lot of new opportunities for students. He believes it would be fantastic if students had a great work ethic, good written communication skills, and a willingness to talk to and collaborate with people. As with anything, he’s sure there will be some learning curves with the new class and new tech like the video board but is confident that the class will overcome those obstacles in a timely fashion.
