The Flora Wolfgals Softball team won the Black Diamond East Conference Championship with a win over Edwards County 8-2 on May 12.
The last time the Wolfgals won Conference was in 2023, and they had to share it as co-champions.
Flora Juniors Marli Myers and Kinley Atwood felt “ecstatic for the win and excited for [postseason]” after the big championship win.
The team’s record, both in Conference and overall shot up this year, going from 6-4 to 9-1 in Conference and 12-14 to 15-8 overall.
The team will lose some seniors this year, so Myers and Atwood believe that they’ll “need to fill the gaps left on the mound, 1st base, shortstop, and centerfield.”
Overall the team has fought through this year and have now got the hardware to show for it. They will be ready for the postseason coming up and will find the right people to fill the empty spots after the Seniors leave next year.
