As the 2025–2026 school year winds down, Flora High School is already looking ahead and bringing something new and exciting with it. Through a collaboration between Mr. Pearce, Mrs. Blanchard, and Mr. Steber, students can expect fresh opportunities in the classroom next year. Steber will be introducing two new courses: Media Production and Music Business Technology.
Steber says his goal is simple: to expand what’s available to students at Flora High School and open doors that might not otherwise exist in a small-town setting. Both classes will be open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors, offering hands-on experiences that go far beyond a traditional classroom.
While Music Business Technology focuses on the industry side of music, Media Production takes things a step further into the world of storytelling and digital creation. Students in this class will work daily with media tools, gaining real-world experience across a variety of platforms. From designing graphics to producing content, the course is built to immerse students in the fast-growing field of digital media.
One of the biggest highlights? Students will take charge of running the video board for volleyball and basketball games, a central part of the class. With a brand-new video board being installed in the gym over the summer, Media Production students will be the primary team behind the scenes, creating content and managing what fans see on game nights.
But it doesn’t stop there. The class will also explore podcasting, video production, and other creative media projects, giving students a chance to experiment and discover their interests. These experiences could lead to future careers in broadcasting, graphic design, digital media, and other behind-the-scenes roles in the industry.
Steber promises the class will be both fun and challenging, encouraging students to bring a strong work ethic, solid communication skills, and a willingness to collaborate. While there may be a learning curve with new technology like the video board, he’s confident students will rise to the occasion.
With new classes, new technology, and new opportunities on the horizon, the future at Flora High School is looking brighter, and more creative, than ever.
