The school’s Art Club has started work on a large mural that combines historical events, influential people, and important works of art. The project takes place during weekly meetings held every Thursday from 3:30 to 5 p.m.
The mural is designed as a collage, blending different time periods and themes into one piece. The images and subjects were selected by teacher Mrs. Borah, who based them on topics covered in her World History class. “I selected themes from World History that we cover during the course,” Borah said.
Students who participate in painting the mural can earn 50 extra credit points in Borah’s class. In addition, participants receive community service hours for their work on the project.
According to Borah, the mural is expected to take an extended period of time to complete. “I am hoping the mural will be completed by the end of the next school year,” she said.
The project allows students to contribute to a long-term piece of artwork while also reinforcing material from their history coursework.
